Zendo l'eau vive
is a practice center in the Soto Zen tradition and is open to everyone. Zazen (meditation) is offered as well as Buddhist teachings, and each month a retreat or sesshin lasting
from one day to a week-end.
The teacher, Shoju Mahler, is a Zen Buddist priest. Born in Paris, Shoju met Zen Buddhism in the
United States where she lived for many years. She received the precepts (ordination) from Dai-en
Bennage, Roshi in 1999. She lived, practiced and studied for four years at Mount Equity Zendo Jihoji, in Pennsylvania under the guidance of the abbess, Bennage Roshi. 

 

Shoju also practiced six months at the Soto Zen training temple Aichi Senmon Nisodo in Nagoya Japan under the direction of Abbess Shundo Aoyama Roshi

In 2005 she became Shohaku Okumura Roshi's disciple, the founder and abbott of the Sanshin Zen Community in Indianna. She practiced and studied there under his guidance six months a year from 2005 to 2009.
Okumura Roshi gave her Dharma transmission (Shiho, permission to teach) in 2009.
